More than 139,000 penalized for not wearing masks in Jakarta since June

first_imgMore than 139,000 people in Jakarta have been sanctioned for not wearing masks in public during transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) from June to September, the city administration announced on Friday. As of Sept. 3, the Jakarta Public Order Agency had recorded 139,201 health protocol violations in the capital and had collected Rp 2.1 billion (US$142,507) in fines. “We fined 14,291 people [of the 139,201], while the rest did community service as a penalty,” Arifin, the agency’s head, said on Friday. He added that Rp 247 million in fines had been collected from business and Rp 764 million had been collected from public venues for violations of protocols during transitional PSBB.“Some 28 business establishments were closed, 38 establishments were fined and 17 received a warning,” Arifin said as quoted by kompas.com.Under the transitional policy, which was implemented in early June and has been extended five times, Jakarta is gradually opening workplaces, public spaces, places of worship and other locales in the hope of reviving economic activity. The policy, however, appears to have backfired as additional COVID-19 clusters have emerged and transmissions have spiked in the capital during the period.Jakarta, the nation’s hardest-hit region, recorded 1,359 new cases on Thursday, a new daily record and a jump from the 1,053 cases announced the previous day.As of Friday, Jakarta had recorded a total of 44,280 cases, with 33,260 recoveries and 1,252 fatalities. first_imgARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2017)–Idle since winning the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint here on Nov. 5, trainer Ian Kruljac’s Finest City overcame a rail post position and marched to an emphatic 3 ¾ length win in Saturday’s Grade II, $200,000 Santa Monica Stakes at Santa Anita. Ridden for the second time in a row by Mike Smith, Finest City got seven furlongs over a “wet fast” track in 1:21.49.Favored to be named as America’s Eclipse Award Champion Female Sprinter in a special gala this evening at Gulfstream Park, Track Announcer Michael Wrona noted that Finest City was “looking for the first leg of a special double that could culminate in an Eclipse Award tonight,” as Finest City drew clear from a stubborn Fantastic Style a sixteenth from home.“This could be a once-in-a-lifetime day,” said Kruljac, 28, whose father, longtime trainer, Eric Kruljac, is at Gulfstream to accept the Eclipse trophy on behalf of his son, should Finest City win the highly coveted award. “It’s awesome to share it with my father. Hopefully, we’ll get that award today.“We’re just keeping her fresh…The inside post was a big obstacle today and Mike just took it to ’em. She’s got stamina. She’s got everything you’d ever want in the breeding of a race horse.”A 5-year-old Pennsylvania-bred mare by City Zip, Finest City was off at 2-5 in a field of five older fillies and mares and paid $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10. Owned by Seltzer Thoroughbreds, she improved her record to 15-5-4-2, and with the winner’s share of $120,000, increased her earnings to $1,045,594.“Breaking from the one hole in this slop, you gotta get outta there,” said Smith. “She’s never had this kinda dirt in her face and I certainly didn’t want her to get any today. My only concern with being away as long as she has is that we’d probably have to use her from the rail, but I saw she’s been working really well. I knew she’s handled the grass and she’s got a real athletic way of going, so I thought she could probably handle this surface today.”A well beaten fifth as the 1-2 favorite over a similar surface here on Dec. 30, Fantastic Style made her first start today for trainer Doug O’Neill and proved second best after chasing the winner throughout. Off at 7-2 with Rafael Bejarano, she finished a neck in front of Sheer Pleasure and paid $2.80 and $2.40.Ridden by Martin Garcia, Sheer Pleasure was off at 22-1 and paid $3.40 to show.Fractions on the race, which were all set by the winner, were 22.15, 44.26 and 1:08.79.First post time for an eight-race card on Sunday at Santa Anita is at 12:30 p.m. Admission gates open at 10:30 a.m.last_img read more

Extensions Bring Facebook’s New “Send” Button to Google Reader, WordPress & More

first_imgFacebook is Becoming Less Personal and More Pro… Earlier this week, Facebook announced the “Send” button. Like the long lost sibling of the “Like” button, the “Send” button lets users share content with their friends, but more selectively. While clicking on “Like” sends a message across your entire Facebook network, “Share” lets you chose specific users, email addresses and Facebook Groups to share content with. The new feature launched on Monday with 50 partner sites, including a number of major mainstream media outlets, but missed out on a number of great sites we love to share from. What if you use Google Reader to read your blogs but you want to share with your Facebook friends? Well, you’ll just have to install one of these two extensions to bring the “Share” button to your browser of choice.Kynetx is a cross-browser platform for browser extensions and apps that gives developers the tools to quickly create browser extensions that work on Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Yesterday, the company announced a contest inviting developers to bring the “Share” button to Google Reader, WordPress.com, Blogger, Posterous, Google, Yahoo and Bing search results pages, Yelp and Google Places. Today, it announced two winners, both of which it says were built in 12 hours of the beginning of the contest. The first extension, SendAnywhere, brings “Share” to all of the aforementioned sites while the second, SendPlus, brings the button to Google Reader, Yelp, eBay, YouTube, Craigslist, Woot, Amazon, CNN, KSL and many hosted Blogger and Posterous sites. For those of you who want to easily share with your Facebook friends but don’t want to wait for individual publishers to implement the button, these two extensions will quickly expand the number of sites you can “Share” with your friends. Why be patient when you can install an extension, right? mike melanson Tags:#Browsers#Facebook#news#web A Comprehensive Guide to a Content Auditcenter_img Related Posts The Dos and Don’ts of Brand Awareness Videos Guide to Performing Bulk Email Verificationlast_img read more

Resolve 14’s Best Editing Features For The Online Content Creator

first_imgBreaking into online video content? You’ll need the right tools for the job. Check out how DaVinci Resolve 14 can save you time and money.Cover image via Shutterstock.Travel vlogger, web-based comedian, video game streamer, YouTube personality, make-up reviewer: while these aren’t necessarily titles that you would classically associate with filmmaking or videography, there’s no denying that online video creation has become a viable way of making an income in the digital age. These titles are only here today because of the advances in filmmaking technology that enabled consumers to buy excellent hardware at a low cost. There are so many options for hardware and software, it can get confusing quickly, especially if you’re new to online content creating. One of the core elements of online content creating is consistency. If you’re not uploading often, you’ll lose your audience. With that in mind, let’s have a look at how Resolve 14 may aid you in creating content faster.Quick DeliveryRendering is often the most mundane part of editing. It’s long, it’s tedious, and it’s even worse when you accidentally forget to select a setting — then you must repeat the process. Resolve streamlines all of this, especially for the online content creator. When we go to the delivery page, we see two built-in presets for YouTube and Vimeo uploads. These presets are specifically for online uploads. By default, you get a QuickTime H.264-encoded media file, restricted to 10,000 kb/s. This is at 720p, but you can very quickly change it to 1080p for a crisp HD upload. Additionally, all of the settings are entirely customizable. Mainly, however, you can take your edit to the delivery page, select the YouTube preset, and start rending for your next upload.Smooth CutIf you didn’t perform a jump cut in an online video in 2017, can you really say you’re an online content creator? But what if you want to go against the flow and produce a video with no jarring cuts? Or perhaps you’re making a serious video using a consistent cut, but at one point you stutter or pause for too long. Well, in Resolve, there’s a feature called smooth cut that will solve this problem.First, identify your pause, remove that section, then go to the effects library and find smooth cut. Add that to the edit point, and when you hit play, it’s almost as if the cut doesn’t exist — the smooth cut will optically blend the two points together.Smart BinsResolve makes managing your media easier with smart bins. You can think of Smart Bins like an iTunes smart playlist. The bins automatically detect the specified elements of a clip and place them into the desired bin. Essentially, you could offload your media into the media pool, and have resolve automatically sort out the contents of your edit before you’ve even offloaded the final clip. So if you were working with two cameras and you want to separate the two (perhaps they require different color treatment because one camera had the incorrect white balance), you just input the details relevant to your camera. To create a smart bin, right-click in the smart bin area on the Media Page, and select add smart bin. You will then see a pop-up window that allows you to set the rules of your smart bin. Here, you can pretty much define the rules however you want. From a specific camera codec to a particular clip length — the choice is yours.Dynamic TrimDynamic Trim is a great feature in Resolve, perhaps one of the best, and it’s going to decrease the amount of time you spend editing dramatically. When you need to switch between trim tools, there’s no multiple tool icons to choose from or numerous keys to hit. It’s just this one icon, which is T on the keyboard. When you enter trim mode, all the available functions (ripple, slide, slip, roll) activate, depending on where you situate your cursor on the clip.Placing the cursor at the start or end of a clip: ripple edit.Placing the cursor within an edit point: roll edit.Placing the cursor on the top half of the clip: slip edit.Placing the cursor on the bottom half of the clip: slide edit. This form of editing is very time-saving, and it will speed up your editing dramatically.Streamlined EffectsIn Resolve, you can very quickly implement transitions into your edit without the hassle of opening an effects tab. You can add an organic fade in or fade out with these handlebars on all audio and video clips. You simply drag the handlebars right or left (depending on which end of the clip you are working with), and you can implement a fade-in within milliseconds. No pen tool, effects panel, or preset needed; just drag right or left.If you have a favorite transition, you like to use — let’s say the cinematic star wipe — you can forget dragging the transition to the edit point every time you want to use it. Just right-click on the transition in the effects panel, select set as standard transition, and then when you’re editing your content, click on the edit point and press Ctrl+ T. The transition will then apply to your edit point. You can also adjust the transition’s length in the same manner as a media clip. Sync Audio from Wave FormIf you record your audio onto a separate device, you’re going to have to sync your audio in post. There are plenty of audio sync plug-ins on the market that can do this for you (or you can manually sync your audio and video files by lining up the waveform), but either way, it can take too long or cost too much. If you’ve used a DSLR or a camera with onboard audio, you can sync your video file and audio file very quickly in Resolve 14.Find your audio and video clip in the media pool, select both files, right-click, and select sync to the waveform. The waveform from your audio capture will then merge to the video clip based on the waveform from your DSLR.These are just a handful of editing tools in Resolve that can help you become YouTube’s next big content creator. Since the software is free, don’t shy away from downloading it and trying a few things out.Looking for more information on DaVinci Resolve 14? first_imgXiaomi is working on a new Redmi device. The smartphone will be called as Redmi Note 5. There have been several leaks and rumours of the device in the past few weeks. There have even been live images of the phone doing rounds on web. Now a website has revealed the price of the upcoming Redmi Note 5 and it is shocking. As per a report from gizmo china, Redmi Note 5 was seen in the list of prizes for a contest which will be hosted by Xiaomi’s China MIUI forum. The listing shows Redmi Note 5 priced at  699 Yuan which means it could be priced near about Rs 6800 in India. Report: ESPN To Buy Second Half Of Big Ten’s Media Rights For $190 Million Per Year

first_imgBig Ten logo.Twitter/@bigtenAfter FOX agreed to buy up half of the Big Ten’s available media rights for a reported $240 million per year, many speculated that a Big Ten/ESPN divorce could be on the horizon. FOX’s move does mean big changes for the conference, but ESPN will still have a major Big Ten presence. According to a report by Sports Business Daily, ESPN is set to buy the other half of the Big Ten’s package for $190 million per year over the next six years.ESPN will buy the second half of the Big Ten’s media rights package, ending months of speculation that the two were about to sever their 50-year relationship.ESPN will pay an average of $190 million per year over six years for essentially half the conference’s media rights package, according to several sources close to the talks. Two months ago, Fox Sports agreed to take the other half of the package for an average of $240 million per year. CBS Sports also has told the conference that it will renew its basketball-only package for $10 million per year.FOX will air the Big Ten Championship Game, and gets first choice for games, meaning that college football fans will be flipping to the network, and not ESPN, to watch Michigan vs. Ohio State in the future.FOX gets a game selection advantage over ESPN in that reported deal. So Michigan-Ohio State is probably moving to FOX for a while.— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) June 20, 2016With the combination of FOX and ESPN’s deals, the Big Ten is set to pull in $2.64 billion for its media package. On the field, you can have a very healthy debate over which conference reigns supreme, but in the bank accounts, it is hard to argue against what the Big Ten has pulled off this off-season.[Sports Business Daily]MORE FROM COLLEGE SPUN:The 10 Most Aggressive Fan Bases In CFBIn Photos: Golfer Paige SpiranacESPN Makes Decision On Dick Vitalelast_img read more

Lobby Continues for Support of Wage Restraint

first_imgMinister with responsibility for the Public Service, Hon. Horace Dalley, says efforts are continuing to lobby support for the public sector wage restraint agreement by unions not yet on board. The three-year agreement, which was signed earlier this month, will see the island’s civil servants forgoing major wage increases for the period 2013 to 2015.This forms part of the stipulations outlined by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Government of Jamaica to fulfill, in their efforts to conclude a four-year IMF Extended Funding Facility (EFF), to support the country’s economic programme. To date, unions representing over 80 per cent of the public sector workforce have signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing this arrangement.Responding to questions about a possible timeframe in which the remaining unions are anticipated to sign the agreement, Mr. Dalley said the Ministry will continue discussions with them in the hope that “the national interest will prevail and that they will understand the need to come on board.”Regarding unions deemed to be “sticking to their ground” and not wanting to endorse the agreement, Mr. Dalley said based on the prevailing developments, “there is no group that can receive any increase in wages during this period.”“The eighty-odd per cent of the public sector workers who have agreed to sign on…to the call from the government, to help in this difficult period, we (greatly) appreciate, and that sacrifice is monumental. (However) no other group can, or will be treated differently,” he stated. By Douglas McIntosh, JIS Reporterlast_img read more
