REMAINS OF MAN BEHIND GERMAN STABBING SPREE BROUGHT HOME FOR BURIAL

first_imgThe remains of a Co Donegal man who stabbed three people in Germany before being killed while crossing a road has been brought back to Ireland for burial.Enda McLaughlin’s remains have been brought home for burial. Pic by Joe Boland of Northwest News Pix.Enda McLaughlin went on a stabbing spree injuring two taxi drivers and another man on June 23rd.The 27 year old from Carndonagh had been released from Castlerea prison a few weeks previously before traveling to Europe. McLaughlin, who had a string of previous convictions for assault and public order offences went berserk after taking a taxi from Holland to Germany. He stabbed two taxi drivers and then a Lithuanian truck driver before crossing a road and being killed by an English couple driving a Mercedes car.His family had been told it would cost thousands of euro to fly his remains home to be buried in his native Co Donegal. The family said they simply do not have the money but do not want Enda cremated. His heartbroken father Patrick pleaded with the Irish Government will step in and help fly his son’s remains home.“We were told it would cost a lot of money and we simply do not have it.“But the one thing I do not want is for Enda to be cremated. I want to be able to bury my son in Carndonagh graveyard and to be able to visit his grave.“I am not a hugely religious man but I need to be able to visit home and feel that he is close to us. That is all we want,” he said. The family were helped by local Fianna Fail TD Charlie McConalogue who is also from Carndonagh. Mr McLaughlin’s remains arrived back in Ireland on Friday night and his funeral is due to take place on Monday.REMAINS OF MAN BEHIND GERMAN STABBING SPREE BROUGHT HOME FOR BURIAL was last modified: July 12th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:burialdonegalEnda McLaughlinGermanystabbinglast_img read more
